Definitions The noun medal refers to a flat piece of metal stamped with an image or design--like a badge on a police officers uniform, a medallion on a New York City taxicab, or a service medal awarded to a member of the armed forces.   The verb meddle means to interfere or to handle something without permission. People who meddle try to have an influence on activities that arent their responsibility. The noun metal refers to a substance, such as copper or tin, that is generally hard and often has a shiny surface. Metal is usually a good conductor of heat and electricity. The noun mettle means courage, boldness, spirit, or grit. We Must Put an End to Gender-related Stereotypes I have heard it said many times and by many women, I wish that I were a man. Men have it so easy. . . It is a statement which stems from the fear and anger that comes from so many years of oppression and abuse; a statement which stems from the pressure to meet the present impossible standards of beauty and bodily perfection. At times it seems to be an understandable statement to make. Admittedly, I have found myself wishing that very absurdity when the pressures of being a woman have seemed to be too much. But as I get older, and hopefully wiser, I am happy to say, and even very proud, that yes! I am a woman.
